Description
Turn something old into something beautifully new in this creative and sustainable sewing class! In this workshop, students will transform a vintage tablecloth into a breezy boho-style peasant top—perfect for spring and summer. Before class, hunt for your tablecloth treasure. Explore local thrift shops, browse Facebook Marketplace, or dig through family treasure trunks to find a piece that speaks to your personal style. Embroidered and lace tablecloths work especially well for this project, but any fabric you love can become the perfect garment. During the class, you’ll learn how to assemble and read a PDF sewing pattern, take accurate body measurements, and choose the correct pattern size. We’ll cover essential garment sewing techniques as you construct your top, including how to add gathers, insert elastic, and finish your seams. You’ll also learn professional finishing methods, including how to use a serger for clean, durable edges. This class is perfect for adventurous beginners or anyone interested in upcycling textiles into wearable pieces. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a unique handmade top and the skills to continue sewing sustainably—giving new life to forgotten fabrics while reducing textile waste.
